Dick Barrett  considers himself most grounded when literally standing on the ground. He worked for many years as a Geologist and learned to read the rocks under his feet. He feels truly connected to the Earth.

He has had a life-long interest in photography and comes to it naturally.  His mother was a painter and his father was an adept amateur photographer. Dick is a visual thinker whose career also  included working with remote sensing images and digital geographical data and maps. He was a very early adopter of computer technology.

All of his interests came together with the development of digital photography.

Now enjoying retirement, he is happiest outdoors and "seeing the pictures" all around him, even when not holding a camera.

His photographic interests includes birds, wildlife, and the National Parks and Wildlife Refuges.  He also enjoys the technological side of digital photography, and has developed considerable skill restoring old and damaged photographs.
